About Me

My name is Ken. I spent 20 years in the Marine Corps and retired in 2018. Before I hung up the uniform I went back to school and finished my degree in Information Systems Security — something I had started years earlier and finally made time to finish.

Since 2020 I’ve been working in the tech industry as an information security analyst. The environment I work in covers the full spectrum: GCP, AWS, Azure, and on-premise data centers. I deal with both legacy systems and new software, which means I’m constantly navigating the gap between how things were built and how they’re supposed to work today. Our company also acquired an MSSP, and that side of the work now covers protection for over 40,000 endpoints and growing. It keeps things interesting.

Outside of work I’m a traditional Catholic. I attend the Traditional Latin Mass and try to keep faith at the center of things rather than the periphery. I read as much as I can — mostly history, theology, and the occasional technical book. I also have an interest in home automation and running AI locally, which sits in an interesting tension with my other goal of spending less time staring at screens.

This blog is where I think out loud. You’ll find posts about technology, security, digital life, and whatever else is on my mind. I don’t use AI to write my posts. I don’t use it for images either. What you read here is what I actually think, in my own words, for better or worse.
